How do you get rid of Super Lice? Help!?

Question by Auntie Em:
How do you get rid of Super Lice? Help!?

I have tried every chemical known to mankind on my head. Examples: Rid, Nix, Lice B Gone, Lice Free, Pronto, Ovide, Malathion, Lindane…… Also every home remedy I could find such as vaseline, Listerine, olive oil, tea tree oil, mayonaise, vinegar, alcohol, blah, blah, blah. I change my sheets daily, and clean the house regularly. The only thing so far that even seems close to getting rid of the darn things is a prescription sulfer based antibiotic. I’ve still got a few and I just bought a Robi Comb in hopes it will help. Does anyone know if the Robi Comb really works well? Also, how do you remove the lice from your eyelashes? They will even run along my inner eyelid and it’s driving me crazy. My doctor said these are chemical resistant super lice and extremely hard to get rid of. I googled “Super Lice” and there is definitely a strain of them going around the United States. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get rid of them?

Firstly I’m in the UK but any info here will have an availability there i’m sure

Coconut oil is said to suffocate the lice and make it harder for them to maintain their grip on the hair. A study at Bristol University found that using a coconut oil-based product called Lice Attack three times a fortnight proved 100 per cent effective after 14 days, and 92 per cent effective after 70. For best effects, use together with a comb.
    • Electronic head combs that buzz and stop each time a louse is detected and destroyed are available. However, these work best on short hair and sometimes cut out due to the presence of sweat rather than a louse. The comb needs to be used daily for about two weeks.
    • There is a lotion available that affects the exterior of the lice rather than the chemistry of their cells. This means the lice cannot build resistance to them. Hedrin coats the lice and causes them to dehydrate. A recent trial reported in the British Medical Journal found it to be 70 per cent effect http://www.hedrin.co.uk

If all else fails, a strong insecticide called carbaryl is available on prescription, but doctors will usually prescribe it only once other treatments have failed.

Sounds awful to have and hopefully you will get it sorted soon

What is the common thing that lice need in their life cycle that a person can do without for awhile…hair. Lice lay their eggs and glue them onto the hair shaft just above the hair/scalp line. So, if I were you I would have no problem in cutting all my hair off and tell everyone that you are in cancer treatment or whatever you want. The lice would look high and low for a place to lay their eggs and get pretty frustrated. you might have them trying to use the hair in your nose and especially ear canals at night. But it is also easy to buy an ear canal hair trimmer for a few bucks and that takes care of that. Good luck. Oh. I will tell you this story. One time I had a lady that works for parks and recreation came to me because she heard that I can find solutions to the unusual. She said that she had these strange wormlike critters that were burroughing into her legs for that last few months. They were drivng her bonkers. I looked at her legs and oh wow, She had plenty of scars, red sores and scabs to prove that she was right. I did biopsy on multiple sites and looked under microscope. I didn’t see anything and sent them off to pathology. They didn’t see anything. I told her the result and she wasn’t happy. One month later I found that she was fired for use and sale of crank on the job.
