Why am I itching? Please read.?

Question by Erin:
Why am I itching? Please read.?

It started on my scalp. My first thought was “Oh god please not lice!!” I have checked my head several times a day for the last week and had my mother in law check and there is nothing. No dandruff, no nits, no rash, nothing. Normal scalp. Over the last several days it has started migrating down. My neck, arms, chest, ears, thighs and trunk its too, though my scalp is still the worst. Still no rash or visible changes anywhere. It isn’t scabies…I know what those look like. It isn’t a normal itching. It’s like a pins-and-needles or a prickly crawling sensation. I haven’t changed anything in the way of soaps, diet, medication. I don’t even take medication. Everything is the same. I just started itching out of nowhere. I’m the only person in my house with it, too. I have had eczema and this is not it. I’m wondering if anyone else has ever had this? Does anyone know if it may be an allergy or reaction or something worse? Thank you in advance.

It could be an allergy or it might be psoriasis, whichever it sounds as if a trip to the Dr is advisable.

My advice would be to go see a dermatologist. Things can get especially bad once they reach the scalp- However, if you’re lucky, it could be ringworm, which can be killed by using athletes foot spray on the rash. If the rash is open, however it would definitely be best to see a doctor. Many general health clinics can give you a brief assimilation of what’s going on, and perhaps it can be taken care of with antibiotics… Best of luck!
